Lennox Lewis v Frank Bruno (1993) – Original Fight Image

On 1 October 1993, WBC heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis defended his title against Frank Bruno at Cardiff Arms Park, in front of a crowd of around 25,000. Billed as "The Battle of Britain", it was the first world heavyweight title fight between two British-born boxers. The build-up was bitter, and Bruno had Lewis in trouble early on, but Lewis recovered and stopped him in the seventh round. The fight started late to suit American television, and finished in the early hours.
