Michael Watson v Nigel Benn (1989) – Original Fight Poster
On 21 May 1989, Nigel Benn defended his Commonwealth middleweight title against Michael Watson at the Majestic Ballroom in Finsbury Park, London, in a nationally televised fight. Benn was unbeaten in 22 fights, all by knockout. Watson survived the early storm, hurt Benn in the fourth round and stopped him in the sixth, ending his unbeaten record and taking the title. Benn bounced back to win the WBO world middleweight title the following year.
