Tony Sibson v Frankie Lucas (1979) – Original Fight Poster

On 10 April 1979, 21-year-old Tony Sibson met Frankie Lucas at the Royal Albert Hall for the vacant British middleweight title, left behind by Alan Minter. Lucas, a Commonwealth Games gold medallist, was the betting favourite, but Sibson came out fast. A left hook began a run of three knockdowns, and referee Wally Thom stopped the fight in the fifth round. Sibson went on to win Commonwealth and European titles and challenge Marvin Hagler for the world title in 1983.
