Barry McGuigan v Eusebio Pedroza (1985) – Original Fight Poster
On 8 June 1985, Barry McGuigan challenged WBA featherweight champion Eusebio Pedroza at QPR's Loftus Road stadium in London, in front of a crowd of around 27,000. Pedroza had held the title since 1978. McGuigan floored him in the seventh round and won a unanimous 15-round decision to become world champion. The fight was promoted by Barney Eastwood, and McGuigan's father Pat sang "Danny Boy" before the first bell. It's remembered as one of the biggest nights in Irish sporting history, with a huge television audience across the UK and Ireland.
